We had a great family home evening with the Aki's. Elder Aki called the activity "Tuen-ng jit", I don't know what that means? We started by preparing a traditional Chinese lunch called Jong. As you can see, we took leaves from the bamboo plant and wrapped sticky rice, ground up beans from green beans, peanuts, an egg yolk from a duck and a piece of beef all together into the leaves. It was like a tin-foil dinner, but the ingredients were different and it became a bamboo leaf dinner instead of a tin foil one.
Here is the pocket of food in the bamboo leaf waiting for another leaf to make the wrap complete.
After our culture experience, we went across the street to a nice restaurant and had a tradtional Chinese dinner that Sister Aki had ordered. We all had a good time. The Akis are so generous and good and they are proud of their Chinese heritage and rightly so.

Elder and Sister Aki looking Chinese and looking good.
On Saturday, May 31, the BYU Management Society, Hong Kong Chapter, held it annual dinner. We were invited to go as they wanted me to speak to the members of the Society. The dinner was held in Aberdeen harbor in the Jumbo Floating restaurant. It will hold 2000 people at once for dinner. The group we had tonight was small--only about 70 people.
After getting off the ferry, we entered the restaurant between two fierce looking dragons who were at the door as sentinels. Kathy doesn't look too frightened.
The speaker was old and bald and funny looking, but surprisingly, everyone paid good attention.
Samily Kwok, the chapter president, presenting us with a gift at the end of dinner. She is a very talented young woman and graduated from BYU in December of 2007.
On Monday June 1, we had a special devotional and dinner to say goodbye to the Hallstroms. The sisters met early to prepare dinner. The gal with Kathy is Jaymi, our secretary in Welfare Services. She is a fun girl. She teases me and says that I am her 'pet peeve', a phrase she learned in her English class and was so excited to come and tell me that she had learned what a pet peeve was and I was hers.
The food was great and created happy smiles.
Elder and Sister Hallstrom. They are just great people and we have learned to love them. Their leadership will be missed in the Asia Area.
This is the whole group that we had for dinner. This is the group that work as the Asia Area Administrative staff and missionaries. The day was great and everyone enjoyed taking a break and enjoying time with each other and the Hallstroms
